FOOD & WATER

It is the Player Characters responsibility to ensure they have nourished themselves on a daily basis(checked between midnight though to midnight), otherwise they will start to suffer the consequences as per the rules for SURVIVAL on Page 125.

However, under normal circumstances, player characters' consumption of food and water will happen automatically, once per day , provided they have sufficient supplies in their party. The GM will simply deduct the appropriate number of supplies used. If there are insufficient supplies in their party for everybody to eat and drink, the GM will bring it to the PCs attention, pointing out how long it has been since they ate or drank.

Wherever able, the party will automatically share all its supplies as equally as possible, unless the GM is informed otherwise. Player characters will normally eat and drink their fill for the day at breakfast, but are free to drink at any time in the day.

The standard requirements are 2 litres of water per day and 1kg of food (or a "meal" or "ration"). The character may eat more food than this, if they wish, which may help them stay warm etc, but is mostly just for roleplay and carries no real advantage.

WATER

The daily requirement of water is 2 litres, enough to fill a waterskin, and has an ENC of 2.

Water comes in two types, clean and dirty. Dirty water will likely run the risk of a Disease or Poison of some type, such as, "THE BLOODY FLUX". Dirty water is usually quick and easy to find. Clean water takes longer to find, such as from a spring or well.

Non-hostile settlements usually have water available from a well for free, although it is usually guarded. Filling more than a barrel or two may require a payment.

FOOD

The daily requirement of food is 1 meal, 1 trail ration, or 1 kg of food. Each has an ENC of 1. Thus 7 trail rations, enough food for one week, has an ENC of 7.
